Who is Peter Flipsen?
Peter Flipsen graduated as a fiscal economist from the Tilburg University in 1980. He has over 40 years of experience in international and national tax law. During his career he was a partner of various law firms (Buruma, De Brauw Blackstone and Simmons & Simmons).
Peter advises and has advised many national and multinational enterprises on mergers & acquisitions and corporate restructurings. He has extensive experience in negotiations with the Dutch tax authorities regarding Advance Pricing Agreements and tax audits. In this context he closely cooperates with transfer pricing specialists. In addition, he has a track record in advising real estate developers.
Peter is a member of the Dutch Association of Tax Advisors (“NOB”), the professional association of university educated tax advisers in the Netherlands, former member of the International Tax Affairs Committee and former member of the section on transfer pricing of the NOB. Peter was also member of the NOB’s disciplinary board. He represents the NOB in CFE Tax Advisors Europe, a Brussels based umbrella association of European tax advisors associations. Peter is also member of the Taxation Committee of the International Bar Association.
Peter is a long standing lecturer at the education foundation of the NOB (‘Stichting Opleiding Belastingadviseurs’) and is senior lecturer Taxation at the Law Firm School (a cooperation between 18 international law firms liaised with the Dutch Bar) responsible for the education of young lawyers in the area of taxation.
Peter is ‘extremely well-informed and connected, as Legal 500 described him, a very practical and business friendly approach to corporate tax’ while Chambers Europe quoted clients saying he ‘has the ability to bring people together during negotiations, and can take a helicopter view whilst remaining detail-oriented’. Peter has both nationally and internationally a large network of reputable (tax) experts with whom he can team up.
