Who is Peter Flipsen?
Peter Flipsen graduated cum laude as a tax economist from Tilburg University in 1980. He has over 40 years of experience in international and national tax law. During his career he was a partner of various law firms (Buruma, De Brauw Blackstone and Simmons & Simmons).
Peter advises and has advised many national and multinational enterprises on mergers & acquisitions and corporate restructurings. He has extensive experience in negotiations with the Dutch tax authorities regarding Advanced Pricing Agreements and tax audits. In this context he closely cooperates with transfer pricing specialists. In addition, he has a track record in advising real estate developers.
Peter is a member of the Dutch Association of Tax Advisors (“NOB”), the professional association of university educated tax advisers in the Netherlands, former member of the International Tax Affairs Committee and former member of the section on transfer pricing of the NOB. He was also a member of the Disciplinary Board of the NOB. He also represented the NOB at CFE Tax Advisors Europe, a Brussels-based umbrella organisation of European tax advisor organisations.
Peter is lecturer at the Foundation for Tax Advisor Training (SOB), the training institute of the NOB, for many years, and until recently he was a senior lecturer in Tax Law at the Law Firm School (a partnership of 18 international law firms that provides training for young lawyers in addition to the vocational training provided by NOVA), responsible for training young lawyers in tax law. Peter is also affiliated with the Fiscal Institute of the Tilburg University.
Peter is ‘extremely well-informed and connected, as Legal 500 described him, a very practical and business friendly approach to corporate tax’ while Chambers Europe quoted clients saying he ‘has the ability to bring people together during negotiations, and can take a helicopter view whilst remaining detail-oriented’. Peter has both nationally and internationally a large network of reputable (tax) experts with whom he can team up.
